Cavan reached the Lory Meagher Cup final following a 1-21 to 0-20 victory over Louth in today’s semi-final at Kingspan Breffni Park.
The opening quarter ended five points apiece. The second quarter was also very tight as a Brian Fitzgerald point saw Cavan lead 0-10 to 0-9 at half-time.
The sides were deadlocked at 15 points each at the hour mark. Louth then opened up a four point gap three minutes later.
Cavan responded impressively and levelled the game in the third minute of injury time through points from Sean Keating (2), Brian Fitzgerald and Cillian Sheanon.
A minute later Fitzgerald found the net. This was quickly followed by a point each from Keating and Kevin Conneely sealed victory for the Breffni men.
Cavan are in the Lory Meagher final against Fermanagh on Saturday July 31st in Croke Park at 6:30pm.
