Carrickmacross missed out on an Ulster club JHC title following a 1-15 to 1-10 defeat to Craobh Rua in the provincial final at Pairc Esler in Newry.
Conor McKevitt’s goal on three minutes saw Craobh Rua led 1-3 to 0-4 on 15 minutes but Carrickamcross subsequently endured a 15 minute barren spell.
Craobh Rua capitalised by stretching the margin to six points on 28 minutes before Carrickmacross hit two of the next three scores making it 1-8 to 0-6 at half-time.
Craobh Rua moved eight points clear with nine minutes left but Carrickmacross were down to 14 men in the first minute of injury time when Luke McKenna was sent off.
Oran Kiernan reduced the margin to five points when he found the net from a 20-metre free four minutes into stoppage time but the Monaghan side failed to reduce the margin thereafter.
Two more red cards were shown brandished in stoppage time as Craobh Rua’s Ronan McAllister and Carrickmacross’ Caolan Martin were both sent off.
