The region will be represented in both hurling and football

The Ulster club championship continues this weekend with four teams from the region involved in football and hurling fixtures.

Castleblayney are the first side out on Saturday when they face Carey Faughs of Antrim. Their re-scheduled intermediate hurling semi-final at 1:30pm in Carrickmore.

The Monaghan senior champions accounted for Middletown in the quarter-final and will be looking to reach the final for the first time since 2011.

Manager Kevin Maloney remarked that the strength of their panel has been a factor in the championship.

On the football front; the Northern Sound region will have one team in the intermediate final as Cavan champions Arvagh face Monaghan champions Magheracloone in the semi-final. Indeed, that game throw’s-in on Saturday afternoon at 4pm in the Box-it Athletic grounds.

Arvagh overcame Drumgath of Down in their quarter-final by six points in their first intermediate championship football at provincial level. Whereas, Magheracloone were comfortable winners over Lisnaskea.

That fixture is the curtain raiser to the meeting of Kilcoo (Down) and Scotstown in the senior semi-final at 6pm.
