Blackhill on the up in Monaghan

Blackhill claimed the Universal Graphics Monaghan Junior championship title on Saturday afternoon with a 1-5 to 0-7 win over Tyholland.

Hugh Byrnes goal on the cusp of half-time. The all-important score as the Emeralds added to their junior success of 2019 and 16.

Sean McCaffrey spoke to the winning manager Paudie Finnegan after the final whistle and he noted firstly the batting qualities his side had shown to get over the line.

Interestingly both Blackhill and Tyholland are making a swift return back to intermediate football. Both having been relegated last year and will contest the league final this weekend.
