Pearse Casey’s last-gasp point saw Ballyhaise miss out on an Ulster IFC title as St Patrick’s Cullyhanna claimed a 1-10 to 0-12 victory at Clones.
Ballyhaise were four points clear midway through the second half before a late rally saw the Armagh side draw level.
A draw looked a conceivable prospect before Casey landed the winning score right at the death.
The sides traded four points each inside the opening 20 minutes. Michael Brady, Martin Conaty, Michael Brady and Brian O’Rourke on target for the Cavan side.
Ballyhaise subsequently took control. Scores from Pauric Moore, Brady and Conaty saw them lead 0-7 to 0-4 at half-time.
Aidan Nugent made it a one-point game four minutes into the second half. Brady opened Ballyhaise’s second-half account 60 seconds later.
Conaty gave Ballyhaise a four-point cushion on 38 minutes before Cullyhanna’s resurgence followed.
Caolan Reavey bagged the game’s opening goal seven minutes later before Aidan Nugent restored parity nine minutes from time.
The sides subsequently traded two points each before captain Casey landed the decisive score three minutes into stoppage time.
