Ballybay eased their way into the Monaghan SFC quarter-finals with a nine point win Aughnamullen.
This game came to life right from the throw-in with three goals in the first 18 minutes. Bobby McCaul fisted two goals to the net in the first 10 minutes to make it two goals to no score.
Colm Lennon fired in an important goal for Ballybay on 18 minutes. However it was Aughnamullen who led at half-time 2-3 to 1-5.
Daniel Garragher sent in an early second-half goal to put Ballybay 2-6 to 2-4 ahead. The first time that Ballybay led all day and it would stay that way.
Substitute Patrick O’Neill rattled in Ballybay’s third goal as they secured a 3-12 to 2-6 victory. Ballybay finish second in group one and will meet Latton O’Neills in the quarter-final.
