Ballybay landed the Monaghan senior championship after a three point win over Scotstown.
The victory saw Ballybay land their first Monaghan championship in 10-years as they won out 1-11 to 1-8 winners.
Ballybay led six points to three at half-time. It was a slow tactical first-half. Christopher McGuinness opened the scoring in the opening seconds.
It would take Scotstown eight minutes to open their account. Killian McKenna equalising. Ryan O’Toole put Scotstown in front seven minutes later, for the only time in the game.
Christy McGuinness, Dessie Ward (3) and Thomas Kerr added Ballybay’s points. Darren Hughes registered Scotstown third of the game a minute into injury time.
Man-of-the-match Ward was on fire in the second-half landing an early goal. Followed by Chris McGuinness and Eoin McKeaney points putting Ballybay 1-8 to three points ahead.
Scotstown were back in the game moments later, Emmet Caulfield long ball somehow found the net.
Ballybay led by five 1-9 to 1-4 with nine minutes remaining. Three-in-a-row chasing Scotstown then produced a big come back.
Scores from Rory Beggan, Shane Carey, Conor McCarthy and Damien McArdle to reduce it to a three point game.
Late on Chris McGuinness moved Ballybay four clear. Mark McPhillips brought it back to a one-goal game, it was Ballybay’s day as they landed the Monaghan championship.
