Ballinagh opened the Cavan senior football championship with a seven point victory over Castlerahan on Friday night.
The opening night of the club championship through up somewhat of a surprise as Ballinagh claimed a comfortable win. Ballinagh led eight points to six at half-time.
Castlerahan chances were dented after five minutes when Enda O’Connell received a red card.
Ballinagh’s first-half scores came from Niall McDermott 0-3.Shane Finnegan 0-2, Evan Finnegan 0-2 and Damien Reilly. While Castlerahan’s scorers were, Cian McCabe 0-3 2f, Karl Cosgrove 0-2 and Stephen Cooney.
Ballinagh took control early in the second half and led points to seven approaching the third-quarter Castlerahan down to 13 men when Jamie Reilly received a black card 15 minutes from time.
Kevin Smith’s goal two minutes into injury time put the gloss on the seven point win as Ballinagh won out 1-14 to 0-10.

While Castlerahan found scores via Enda Flanagan. Cian McCabe, but it was a deserved Ballinagh victory.
