Aughnamullen and Emyvale will meet again after today’s Monaghan intermediate football semi-final ended 0-17 apiece after extra time at Clontribret.
The sides were deadlocked at six points apiece at half-time and were tied again at full-time before continuing to cancel each other out in extra time.
A draw looked ominous from the outset. It was four points each at the first water break and the sides were level again at half-time after trading two points each in the second quarter.
Aughnamullen began the second half with urgency and three points from Micheal Bannigan along with one from Jason Duffy made it a four-point game on 41 minutes.
Emyvale fought back to make it a two-point game at the second water break before Ryan McAnespie levelled matters once more in the first minute of injury time.
Bannigan appeared to have won the game for Aughnamullen when he slotted over a score in the third minute of injury time.
A minute later, David McAllister replied with a point for Emyvale making it 14 points each at full-time and suddenly, extra time was required.
The sides traded a point each in the first half of extra time before Conor Forde gave Emyvale a one-point buffer with two minutes left.
Jason Duffy responded with the equaliser two minutes into injury time and a replay is now required to see who’ll play Donaghmoyne in the decider on Sunday November 14th.
