Irish athletics is in mourning after the sudden passing of Jerry Kiernan at the age of 67.
Kiernan finished ninth in the 1984 Olympic Marathon were team John Tracey took silver.
Kiernan competed in seven World Cross country championships winning 17 international caps in total, in a career that saw him capture five Irish national titles.
Listowel native Kiernan passed away suddenly on Wednesday January 20th.
Kiernan was a well-known athletics analyst for RTE and continued as a highly respected coach to Ciara Mageean and John Travers.
