Arva’s 24 game unbeaten run came to an end in the Ulster Intermediate Final in O’Neills Healy Park on Saturday night.
The Cavan side lost to Derry champions Ballinderry 1-12 to 2-08 in an entertaining encounter.
A late Darren Lawn point proved the winner in the final which had been rearranged from last weekend due to Storm Darragh.
Arva were hoping to be the first club to win back to back Junior and Intermediate titles. Arva opened the goalscoring in the 15th minute through Barry Donnelly. The half-time score saw Arva lead by1-04 to 5 points.
In the second half Ballinderry had levelled when Arva got the uperhand again through a Conan Sheridan goal.
Ballinderry brought themselves back into the game when a Shea McCann goal levelled the game as we entered the final quarter.
The Derry Champions went two points clear then Kevin Bouchier got two points to bring them level.
In injury-time with extra time on the horizon excitement ramped up. Ballinderry scored,Arva levelled and then Lawn struck the winner to mark into the All-Ireland series.
Arva will be playing Cavan senior football next season.
