Republic of Ireland U21 captain Andrew Moran has been called up to the senior squad for Saturday's concluding Euro 2024 qualifier against the Netherlands.
Moran has yet to win a senior cap but has made 12 appearances for Blackburn in the Championship this season.
The FAI confirmed the news via a social media update adding the call-up was necessitated by injury concerns.
The biggest question is over the fitness of Evan Ferguson. The Brighton striker has had a scan on his hamstring and back.
The teenage striker missed Brighton's game against Sheffield United at the weekend. Chiedozie Ogbene, Jamie McGrath and Will Smallbone are also nursing injuries.

Moran was set to feature for crucial U21 qualifiers for Ireland against Norway and Italy.
The midfielder was expected to make his senior bow in the last window against Gibraltar, only for injury to get in the way.
Meanwhile, St Patrick’s Athletic midfielder Adam Murphy has been called into the Ireland U21 squad to replace Moran.
