The club championship continues with earnest in the region this weekend with action in all grades in Monaghan while the quarter final pairings in the senior and intermediate grade will be confirmed in Cavan. After the break last weekend, the Monaghan championship returns with action in both senior groups. On Saturday Scotstown will look to make it back to back wins when they make the trip to Aughnamullen who are without a victory. Throw in for that fixture is at 3pm. While Ballybay will make the trip to Contibret at 5pm knowing that a victory will ensure a semi final spot. Regular GAA correspondent Fergal Monaghan noted that this particular game is hard to call
On Sunday in Group 2, it is a clash of the top 2 as Truagh welcome Inniskeen to St Mellans with both sides having 2 wins from 2 outings. Throw in is at 5pm. The other fixture will see Carrickmacross taking on Castleblayney at 2pm.
In Cavan it is the final round of fixtures in the senior and intermediate group stages. With 8 teams from a group of 12 set to make the quarter finals in the senior competition, Damien Donohoe remarked that several different methods of deciding the last 8 maybe required
Those fixtures in the senior championship will see Lavey taking on Mullahoran, Kingscourt up against Gowna, Ballinagh against Butlersbridge, Lacken facing Cavan Gaels, Crosserlough taking on Laragh United and Ramor United taking on Killygarry. All fixtures throw in at 3pm on Sunday.
