Alan O’Mara has been appointed as the New York senior football manager for 2024.
New York GAA announced the appointment of the former Cavan goalkeeper and journalist this evening.
O’Mara has also set up his back-room team with Tyrone man Ronan McGinley coming in as coach. Indeed, McGinley previous played for New York.
New selectors include Jeff Farrell, David McNamara and Dean O'Donnell. They have also appointed a player development coach, Mick Cunningham, who played in goal for the American-based side last season.
Sean Kelly has appointed strength and conditioning coach along with physio Sinead Burns, who has experience working Stateside with NFL and NBA athletes.
A statement issued by New York GAA said; "The NYGAA looks forward to an exciting season ahead with this new leadership team, confident that their collective expertise will steer the team to new successes. We invite our community and supporters to rally behind the team as they embark on this exhilarating journey in Gaelic football”

New York enjoyed their first championship win earlier this year, beating Leitrim on penalties in this year's Connacht quarter-final. Sligo ended New York’s fairy tale in the semi-final.
While, Carlow scored a five-point win over New York in the Tailteann Cup preliminary quarter-final. Indeed, New York will host Mayo in the Connacht quarter-final next April.
O’Mara was part of the Cavan senior panel from 2010 to 2017.
Former Cavan manager Mickey Graham, praised O’Mara, highlighting his involvement in the Cavan senior team as they made the 2019 Ulster final.
