Aaron McKenna recorded the biggest victory of his career beating Angola’s Uisma Lima to win the WBC middleweight international title.
McKenna claimed victory on a unanimous scorecard, 100-91, 98-92, 98-93.
Lima was a late replacement for his original opponent. Sheffield’s Shakiel Thompson withdrew through injury.
“I was preparing for a south paw anyway throughout the training camp” explained McKenna. “I did over 160 rounds of sparring with eight or nine different south paws. When the change of opponent came it didn’t really faze me too much.”

McKenna career record reads 17 from 17. The silencer is determined to land a world title and knows exactly where he wants his next fight to be.
“Next goal for me is to become a world champion" declared McKenna. "It’s only another one or two fights away from that. I won’t stop until I become a world champion".
“Hopefully I’ll be back out again later on this year. The plan hopefully is to fight at Kings Hall Belfast and get all the Irish fans over there".
“The atmosphere there is special, I’d love to it. It would be great to have me and Stephen both fighting there with all the Irish, definitely the best fan base in the world.”
