There has been an exchange of views between members of Monaghan County Council over a recent meeting with officials in the North about the overdue development of the N2 between Clontibret and the border.
Cathaoirleach of the Council, Sinn Féin's Cathy Bennett, says she thought Fianna Fáil Councillor PJ O'Hanlon was wrong to ask the North's Minister for Infrastructure to provide funding to complete the N2 stretch of road at the meeting. She was reacting to comments made by Councillor O'Hanlon on Northern Sound following the meeting.
However, P J O'Hanlon says the Cathaoirleach took him up wrong and spoke to our reporter Zoe Tunney to clarify the matter. Cllr O'Hanlon also gave some of his personal views on how he thinks the government here should spend their money before it sends it north.
