Local musicians, dancers and singers brought home a haul of 33 medals from last week's All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil. Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann is the most important event in the traditional music calendar.
For many, it is the culmination of months of hard work and practice as they compete against fellow musicians, singers and dancers to achieve the recognition of being an All-Ireland champion. Cavan and Monaghan have always done very well at the annual international festival.
In studio earlier we had two All-Ireland medalists, Oisín O’Reilly and his teacher George McAdam. But first we spoke to Oisín’s mother Jackie.
The list of local medalists does not include the George McAdam's band, the Blackwater Céilí Band in Tyrone which took home a silver medal!
