A Cavan family says they're running out of time to get independent living for their sister who has cerebral palsy.
County Council recently bought a house in Ballyhaise which can be converted to communal independent living accommodation for persons with physical disabilities.
However, Mary Tackney along with her relatives, has been fighting for a care plan to be implemented by the HSE in order for the Local Authority to be able to make the required modifications to the property.
Her brother Martin says that this would allow Mary to live the life she chooses and also allow his mother look after her own health which has been poor in recent months.
Local TD, Pauline Tully has made representation on their behalf in the Dáil and told Shannonside Northern Sound that there needs to be personalized funding for people with disabilities so they can make the choices as to the care they want.
