The Chair of the Ulster IFA, Nigel Reneghan, today spoke on The Wider View about key issues facing the agriculture sector in the region at this time.
He emphasised the need for a fund to be set up that will allow poultry farmers effected by the H6N1 strain of bird flu, that was found in flocks in County Monaghan to stay in business.
Farmers impacted by the strain are currently not eligible for compensation from the Department and he has concerns this could put them into financial difficulty.
