Today is Africa Day, which celebrates diversity and the African diaspora on the Island of Ireland. While the African and Irish communities in Cavan and Monaghan are "still learning from each other"there is more integration and understanding developing.
that's according to Cavan's Susuana Komolafe the CEO of the Afro Diaspora Centre Ireland, which supports African and Caribbean communities living in Ireland.
The group advocates organises events and provides supports for African people, and has a regional branch that represents those living in Cavan, Monaghan and the Midlands.
Susuana, who was also the Operation Transformation Leader in Cavan this past year, joined Sheila Naughton to talk about today, and also what is needed in the locality when it comes to breaking down the stigma and stereotypes that Afro and Caribbean people, and refugees living here still face :
