Tomorrow marks the 40th anniversary of the deaths of Garda recruit Gary Sheehan and Patrick Kelly in Leitrim in 1983.
The two men were shot dead by the IRA as they took part in a search operation for kidnapped Quinnsworth CEO Don Tidey.
Recruit Garda Gary Sheehan who was from Carrickmacross was one of a number of recruits undergoing training at Templemore, who were sent to supplement the search over a wide area of Derrada Woods outside Ballinamore where he was murdered.
