Sinn Fein leader Mary Lou McDonald called again last week for an independent public inquiry into the death of Monaghan man Shane O'Farrell. She said that herself and Deputy Matt Carthy have been calling for such an inquiry for years in the face of delay after delay.
Mr O'Farrell who was 23, died after a hit and run incident by a man who was on bail and had 42 previous convictions. Deputy Carthy told the wider View this week that it's nearly 12 years since Mr O'Farrell died and it's time that the matter was addressed.
He began by highlighting that a public inquiry was what is needed now.
