The North South Interconnector has been a long running issue for a long number of years for landowners across Cavan and Monaghan.
A second interconnector is needed according to Eirgrid. The cross-border project aims to run a new overhead 400 kilo-Volt power line to connect the electricity grids here with that in Northern Ireland.
The line will run through Monaghan, Cavan and Meath in Ireland, and Armagh and Tyrone in Northern Ireland.
Ronan Gargan has been speaking to Michael Mahon the Chief Infrastructure Officer of Eirgrid about where the north south interconnector is at as we come to an end of this year.
