A primary school in West Cavan has won the top prize at this years World Irish Aid Awards national final event held in Dublin earlier today.
A video about the Global Goals for Sustainable Development and the work of Irish Aid created by 5th and 6th Class pupils at St. Mogue's National School, Co. Cavan took home the top prize at this year's Our World Irish Aid Awards national final event.
The announcement was made yesterday in UCD where pupils and teachers from 13 schools across the country gathered to celebrate their collective success at a ceremony hosted by Clara Murray.
The school's video, entitled Bite Size Global Goals, tells the story of the United Nations Global Goals for Sustainable Development, the work of Irish Aid in an easy-to-understand manner, which also sets out a range of things we can all do to make the world a better place, contributing towards Equality for All which was this year's Awards theme.
Meanwhile 5th Class pupils from Scoil Rois, Carraig Mhachaire Rois, County Monagahan scooped the Our World Irish Aid Gaeilge Award for their insightful entry as Gaeilge about Irish Aid focus countries Zambia and Sierra Leone.
Both Schools will now feature on a host of bus shelters across the country.
Our reporter Ronan Gargan spoke yesterday evening to Kieran Conofrey who is a teacher at St. Mogue's National School.
