Its the case of Virginia in Co Cavan to New Jersey in the United States for my next guest.
23-year-old Ronan Patterson from Virginia has swapped rugby and GAA for American Football after he received a scholarship in New Jersey.
Former Cavan minor footballer Ronan Patterson is taking n the challenge for the year ahead after the Ramor United clubman was offered the chance of a lifetime with the prestigious Monmouth University in New Jersey, a Division 1 American Football programme.
Patterson, a former stand-out rugby player with Virginia Rugby Club and Ulster underage squads, saw an advertisement online for kickers in January of this year and began to practise, culminating in being offered a scholarship with the college giants.
Ronan heads off today for what he describes is a chance in a lifetime opportunity that he has been afforded.
Ronan Gargan caught up with him yesterday ahead of him departing the Breffni County for pastures new, and and Ronan Gargan began by asking him how it all came about.
