A Proposal to bring Pop-up Swimming Pool to Carrickmacross has been approved by Monaghan County Council.
According to Cllr Colm Carthy this forms part of a wider campaign to bring the Leisure Centre to south Monaghan.
At the September meeting of the Carrickmacross-Castleblayney Municipal District Council, Cllr Carthy called on the Executive to support my call to bring Swim Ireland’s ‘Pop-up Pool’ to Carrickmacross.
Since the September MD meeting, the local councillor , along with Director of Services for the area, Carmel O’Hare, and Damien Thornton, Municipal District Coordinator, paid a visit to the pop-up pool, which is currently located in Cootehill,
The next step is to establish a suitable location to facilitate the pool and the structure around it. Whilst the pool will only be in place for approximately 6 months, it does require a significant investment to provide access to parking, water and electricity.
Ronan Gargan has been speaking to the local Sinn Fein representative about the plans to bring the pool to Carrick.
