Today marks 23 years since 9/11.  In 2001 four coordinated Islamist terrorist suicide attacks carried out by al-Qaeda against the United States.

Moreover, the September 11 attacks killed 2,977 people, making it the deadliest terrorist attack in history. Hijackers crashed two planes into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York on the day now referred to as 9/11.

Indeed, on that day Patrick McCormack, who's father hailed from Arva in Co Cavan, was a member of an Emergency Service Unit.  Patrick's Unit responded to the World Trade Center, where he assisted in rescue and recovery operations. Patrick has been speaking to Ronan Gargan on the Wider View.
