Plans have been lodged this week for ambitious new plans for a new public amenity in Arva. Local community group, Arva Area Development Association, have tabled plans to install a walking trail for the general public along the shore of Guinikin Lough.

The route if given the green light will stretch from Crannagh Bridge on the Dromard road to Woodlands Bridge in a move which will see it link up to a community path at Arva's GAA grounds. The trail will be built above the higher water line of the shore and will be accessible to walkers, cyclists and people of limited mobility. The walk will be 1km long, two meters wide and constructed from suitable stone and gravel materials with a stock fence on the land side of the purposed walk.

Our reporter Jodie Curran spoke with Niall Gormely who is the chairperson of the Arva walks sub-committee and began by asking him more about this new development:
