The residents of two County Cavan communities are "terrified" about plans to establish battery storage facilities in their area.
While batteries are here to stay in terms of renewable energy, the Irish Government currently does not regulate the industry. Indeed, there is no safety framework in place for facilities like those planned for Shankhill Lower and Pottle.
Eleanor Davis is from Shankhill Lower and told Zoe Tunney residents are not opposed to battery storage so long as the Government listens to their concerns and then takes a mnulti-agency approach when developing an adequate safety and emergency plan.
