People across Cavan and Monaghan are being asked to help combat animal cruelty.
The request comes from the ISPCA which says it received seven calls in Co Monaghan and 31 calls in Cavan between January and May of this year.
The organisation says it expects to lodge a total of 89 calls in Co Cavan by the end of the year while 20 is anticipated in Monaghan.
The ISPCA has indicated a sharp increase in animal cruelty and in the abandonment of pets, and funding to support those animals is urgently needed.
Dr Cyril Sullivan, CEO of the ISPCA has been speaking to Ronan Gargan about the national call out for assistance to what he describes as a crisis.
He says that foster homes across the region or you help by donating to the charity.
