Known as the "Community Oscars" for a village to win the national Pride of Place Award is no mean feat but, that is what the County Monaghan village of Oram did this year.
And, not only was Oram a winner but the prestigious awards event was hosted by Monaghan County Council for the first time.
Over 100 community and voluntary organisations representing 35 local authorities attended a gala dinner at the Hillgrove Hotel on Friday night and the council also took the opportunity to showcase the Peace Campus in Monaghan Town. Delegates also visited the Garage Theatre to see a production of Pat McCabe's new play. Louise Rooney works at Oram Community Development Association and she told Zoe Tunney what was involved in their winning.
