A local councillor has raised the plight of dog fouling in towns and villages across the region.
Cllr Clifford Kelly brought a motion to the most recent meeting of Cavan County Council in relation to the scourge dog litter is having on locations locally.
He said it's terrible to see footpaths destroyed by dog fouling, he added that this is not just disgusting but dangerous. Cllr Kelly said it's snot fair on our vulnerable in society, the likes of children, older people, people pushing buggies or a wheelchair user.
He said he didn't know what the solution was to this very serious problem but something needs to be done and done fast.
The calls come as it was revealed that there was no dog fouling offences recorded in Cavan in either 2023 or 2024. Ronan Gargan has been speaking to the Kingscourt native about this concurring issue.
