At the March meeting of Monaghan County Council, Sinn Fein members put forward a motion that is set to benefit local companies when it comes to large-scale capital projects.
It's a welcome development and one that received unanimous support when it was put forward for consideration last week.
Cllr Colm Carthy, one of the drivers of the initiative, spoke to the Wider View about the matter this week. He began by explaining what it will mean for local companies competing for tenders.
