Christy Dignam has been described as "very humble" despite his success with Aslan.
Tributes have continued to be paid to the popular singer who passed away yesterday evening at the age of 63.
In his life, he struggled with addiction in his early years and health issues over the past decade following being diagnosed with cancer since 2013.
Described as one of the greatest song writers to come out of Ireland, President Michael D Higgins said, for the last 40 years, "Christy and his bandmates in Aslan made an enormous contribution to the cultural life of our nation".
One man that got to know Christy over the last number of years is Monaghan man Martin Maguire, he befriended the Aslan front man while he was going through his cancer battle alongside the dunlin singer.
Martin continued to strike up a friendship with Christy through Martins work with Crocus Men's Den in Monaghan.
Martin has been speaking to our reporter Ronan Gargan about the popular singers passing and he has been remembering his encounters with Christy.
