A Monaghan councillor has called for a response from EirGrid in relation to a new electricity link between Northern Ireland and Scotland.
Sinn Fein's Noel Keelan hopes the undergrounding of such a scheme can act as an example to EirGrid as to why the overhead cabling of the North South Interconnector between counties Monaghan, Cavan and Meath "should not" go ahead.
Cllr Keelan also revealed that Minister Eamon Ryan will meet local representatives of Monaghan County Council to discuss issues around the North South Interconnector, local road projects and the active travel scheme.
