A new report from Men’s Aid Ireland has found that there has been a 37% increase in demand to its domestic abuse support service for men. Men’s Aid - which has headquarters in Cavan, Monaghan and Louth - launched its Annual Report for 2021 earlier this week showing 7,561 contacts were made to the domestic abuse support service.
Kathrina Bentley, the organisation's CEO, told Ronan Gargan that men are reaching out for emotional and psychological support because of coercive control by women. She says that men who find themselves in abusive relationships are "finally starting to come forward".
