Two local animals are in the running to become this year's Nose of Tralee.

Petsitters Ireland run the competition annually. Each year a pet picked to represent each county, with the winner chosen by public vote.  The competition gets underway tomorrow.

In Cavan, Maverick the cat is vying for the title while in Monaghan Ivy the dog is on the hunt to take home the national title.

Ivy's owner Ellen Caldwell has been telling me all about winning the county title and what it would mean for her pet to be named Nose of Tralee.
