In recent weeks, Gardai have been encouraging all road users to be patient as more traffic is expected as restrictions ease and the weather improves.
As of last week, inter-county travel is allowed, and already there has been a noted increase in cars on the national roads across Cavan and Monaghan.
This advice comes alongside the continued appeal by Gardai for drivers to not get behind the wheel if they have had alcohol or taken drugs.
A local drama group has joined forces with Monaghan County Council to highlight these dangers of driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, particularly to younger people.
Aaron McElroy has been learning more about this, and spoke to Adrian O'Sullivan, the Road Safety Officer with Monaghan County Council, and Mark McNally from Flocking Arts.
