Kilnacrott Abbey near Ballyjamesduff in Cavan was first built in 1924.

Last month, work began to demolish the building, which, holds many fond memories for people who attended mass there or who knew any of Norbertine Order priests who ran Kilnacrott for the best part of the last century. Kilnacrott Abbey is also known as the burial place of prolific paedophile priest Fr Brendan Smyth.

Fr Darragh Connolly told Zoe Tunney it's no coincidence that God directed them to build a place of healing on a site where, for some, so much hurt is associated:
