Next week is biodiversity week and a number of events are taking place across Monaghan to create awareness and find ways of providing solutions to some of the issues that have arisen.
Mark McDowell from Hedgerows Ireland is hosting a workshop in Monaghan on Saturday, the 27th of May next and everyone is invited to take part in the exercise and learn more about the importance of hedgerows in terms of habitat, food and eco-systems.
The move is part of National Biodiversity week which is being run locally in conjunction with Monaghan County Council. Mark spoke to the Wider View on Wednesday and he began by explaining why hedgerows are referred to as' Ireland's Rainforest'.
