The Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys, has announced funding which will allow local community organisations to purchase vehicles for the delivery of essential services.
Funding of €22,400 will be provided for a new van for Castleblayney Trust for delivering meals on wheels to senior citizens and others in need.
Funding of €15,000 is being provided to Cú Chulainn Blood Bikes who transport blood at speed to our local hospitals and funding of €55,848 is being provided to Rockcorry Divers and North Coast Search and Recovery for the purchase of a 4 wheel drive emergency response vehicle.
Funding of over €44,000 was announced for the Athlone Sub Aqua Club, the Order of Malta in Roscommon are set to receive €65,000 for a community ambulance and the Irish wheelchair association in Longford and Roscommon are to receive €40,000 each under this funding scheme.
In total, thirty-seven groups will benefit across the country as part of the €2million national funding announcement.
Monaghan County Councillor Aidan Campbell said that each of the recipients of funding today play a critical role providing essential services to members of the public.
