The Government ended the eviction ban this week and will eliminate it on a phased bases from June. Homeless campaigner, Fr Peter McVerry, has indicated his opposition to the move and says the results of the next election will reflect how people across Ireland also feel.
He spoke to the Wider View this week about the ban and also pointed to how "well" the Housing First Contract - that is being run by his trust across Cavan Monaghan and Louth - is going. But first, Fr McVerry began by explaining why the lifting of the eviction ban is a bad idea.
