Monaghan County Council's Fire Service will lead National Fire Safety Week in Monaghan from today October 9th to October 17th.
This will be aimed at promoting fire safety and, safety at home.
According to the local authority, the theme of this year's campaign is centred on the message 'Safer Together'.
To coincide with Fire Safety Week, Monaghan Fire & Civil Protection will be asking local primary schools to take part in the 'Fire Safety' competition. This year, locals are being encouraged to have smoke alarms and use them.
Our reporter Jodie Curran spoke with Siobhán Mc Kenna who is the Senior Assistant Chief Fire Officer for Monaghan County Council.
