An allocation of €322,000 of government funding announced today! The funding is for improvement works and new facilities at forest parks in Cavan and Monaghan.
Indeed, €200,000 is allocated for the design and construction of a new car park entrance to Deerpark Forest Park, Virginia. Additionally, €49,000 is being provided towards the installation of new toilets and associated works in Rossmore Forest Park, Monaghan.
General maintenance works this year at forest parks in Co Cavan see an expenditure of €45,268. Correspondingly, an expenditure of €27,443 on such works in forest parks throughout Co Monaghan. Additionally Rossmore Park is the most visited forest park in Ireland for the second year in a row.
The top 10 most visited Coillte Parks in the country announced today with Rossmore Park in Monaghan continuing to be ranked number one with 357,834 visitors in 2023. Elsewhere in the Northern Sound region, Killykeen Forest Park in Co Cavan placed number 5 in the top 10 with 88,674 visitors in 2023.
