LISTEN BACK: Deputy Niamh Smyth discusses numbers on regional hospital waiting lists

Over 26,000 adults and nearly 4,600 children are waiting on out-patient treatments at hospitals across Cavan, Meath and Louth. There are a total of 6,522 adults and 1,078 children on lists at Cavan General Hospital while 11,009 adults and 3,509 children are in the same position at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda; 3,117 adults are waiting at Louth County Hospital while 5,908 adults and three children are listed at Our Lady's Hospital in Navan.

Meanwhile, the figures for inpatient/day care waiting lists reveal that nearly 2,500 adults and 55 children are waiting for various treatments at the local and regional hospitals. Cavan Monaghan Fianna Fail TD, Deputy Niamh Smith spoke to the Wider View about this latest development. She began by highlighting the fact that there over 800,000 people on waiting lists nationally.
