Fears are growing locally that the Nuremore Hotel in Carrickmacross is closing down. Staff at the facility were laid off in December for 12 weeks on the premise that renovations would be carried out but so far that hasn't happened. The staff are also waiting for wages owed to them.
Earlier this week, the owners of the hotel indicated that all memberships to the leisure facilities had been frozen. On Thursday, Cavan Monaghan Sinn Fein TD, Deputy Matt Carthy raised the plight of both workers and the hotel in the Dail.
He spoke about that to the Wider View and he began by highlighting his engagement with staff since they were laid off at the end of last year.
