Last week was a disheartening one when it came to infrastructure across Cavan and Monaghan. On Wednesday, Sinn Fein's motion to extend the eviction ban was defeated by 14 votes in the Dail.
Then it emerged that Eirgrid is to proceed with the over-grounding of the North South Interconnector despite opposition from communities, landowners and stakeholders. Sinn Fein have now brought legislation to the table in an effort to ensure that the eviction ban is extended. Deputy Matt Carthy spoke to the Wider View about these latest developments and he began by explaining the impact the lifting of the eviction ban will have on "ordinary, hard-working people".
