40 new social homes have been announced for County Cavan.
33 homes are planned for Kingscourt and 7 in Ballyhaise.
The development at Lisaturrin in Kingscourt will consist of 33 new social homes, a mix of 1, 2, 3 and 4 bed houses.
The construction scheme at Ballyhaise of 7 new social homes will be a mix of 2 and 3 bed houses.
Deputy Brendan Smith said that this will be a welcome development in view of present housing demands in Co. Cavan.
Speaking to our reporter Ronan Gargan, the Cavan Monaghan TD says he knows that Councillor Clifford Kelly has been working closely with Cavan County Council in relation to the need for additional homes in Kingscourt and the new scheme will help to offset particular housing pressures in that area.
Deputy Smith started his conversation with Ronan by saying that the housing announcement made by Minister Darragh O Brien is welcome in the county.
