A Monaghan councillor has raised his concerns in relation to diesel laundering across the region. Concerns on behalf of Fine Gael's Aidan Campbell emerged after it was revealed that Monaghan County Council dealt with 21 separate incidents of diesel laundering waste dumping in the county. A claim to the value of 92,000 euro was also reported in relation to costs.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr Campbell revealed that as a result of the incidents, approximately 63,000 kgs of waste was collected from the locations in question. He described the incidents as "reckless" and has called for more to be done to stop these criminals.
