Cavan County Councillor, Shane P Ó'Reilly has been appointed the Rural Independent Group's liaison officer for the Connaught-Ulster area.
This significant role will involve identifying suitable candidates to run for the Group in next year's local and European elections.
Speaking to the Wider View this week, Cllr O'Reilly highlighted how joining the Rural Independent Group last year allowed him to become "a constructive and straightforward voice" on Cavan's local authority:
